YOUNG PEOPLE
It takes years of training at a dance school to become a kathakali dancer. Students must gain a good knowledge of religious texts, music, and drama. They must also build up their physical stamina and flexibility, since performances are often very long. Toughest of all is learning to control their eye movements. These are very important in kathakali.
It takes eight or more hours for a kathakali dancer to apply his makeup.
